Wet grinding is a method of grinding glass while using water as a coolant. In the grinding process of glass fusing, wet grinding is the standard method because dry grinding carries risks such as glass dust scattering, the bit seizing up, and glass breakage due to overheating. A water supply system—either built into the table router or attached externally—is used to continuously cool and clean the grinding area.
Wastewater from wet grinding contains glass dust, and discharging it directly into the drain can be harmful to the environment and cause damage to the plumbing. It is recommended to collect the wastewater in a bucket, allow the glass dust to settle, and then discharge only the clear supernatant, or to treat it using a dedicated filter.
