Soda-lime glass is a type of glass composed primarily of silica (SiO₂), soda (Na₂O), and lime (CaO), and it is the most widely used glass for architectural window panes, tableware, and general glass products. Most art glass used in glass fusing (such as Bullseye, Wissmach, and Spectrum) is soda-lime glass. Even art glass standardized as COE90 or COE96 is based on a soda-lime composition.

Soda-lime glass is easy to work with and has physical properties well-suited for fusing, slumping, and cutting. However, since the COE varies depending on the composition ratio, it is essential to check the COE when combining glass from different manufacturers or with different part numbers. Borosilicate glass (such as Pyrex) has a COE that differs significantly from that of soda-lime glass; therefore, mixing the two during fusing is strictly prohibited.
