Learn More

Poise is a unit of viscosity that has been in use since before the SI unit, Pa·s (pascal-second), became widespread. The conversion is 1 Pa·s = 10 poise.

In the literature on glass, viscosity is often expressed logarithmically as log η; however, the values differ by 1 between the poise system and the Pa·s system. When reading numerical values at a specific point, care must be taken to ensure which unit system is being used.
