The investment dry program is a specialized firing program designed to dry and remove moisture from investment molds used in pâte-de-verre and kiln casting within the kiln. Plaster molds contain a high amount of moisture after molding, and if they are heated to high temperatures in this state, the moisture can rapidly vaporize, posing a risk of the mold bursting (cracking).
The basic principle of a plaster drying program is to slowly raise the temperature within the low-temperature range of 100–200°C and hold it for an extended period to allow moisture to evaporate completely. This involves low-temperature, extended-duration settings that are completely different from a typical glass firing program. It is important to proceed to the main firing program only after the mold has dried completely (once the surface has turned white and the weight has stabilized). Please also pay attention to the ventilation of the electric kiln.
