Double pliers are glass-cutting pliers with two rows of interlocking jaws, used to grip and break small pieces of glass or scraps. They are ideal for breaking small pieces, thin strips of glass, and narrow strips at the edges—items that are difficult to grip with standard running pliers. Depending on the shape of the jaws, they may be distinguished from breaking pliers.
Since double-jaw pliers apply force directly to the score line, it is important to position the blade precisely on the score. If the blade is angled, the material will break at a point off the score. They can also be used for “chipping”—the process of carefully breaking off small pieces of the unwanted material outside the intended score line. After use, check the blades for scratches or wear.
